Greek 'Without Gods' Tattoo

Ok, so I went to get a tattoo tonight...

I was going to do the whole "barcode yourself" thing, but bar codes, it turns out, look like crap after a few years due to ink bleed and skin stretching. So then I was going to go with the atheist symbol (same as my avatar, only solid black). But the guy said unless it was about twice as big as I wanted it, he wouldn't be able to get the detail in, like the little open spots where the rings cross. Well, tattoos are permanent so I want something that's going to be wicked cool...

And I found it. I'm actually glad it didn't work out tonight because I'm going to get the above word (not the border) tattooed on the back of my neck tomorrow. It's the original Greek derivation of the word "atheist." The literal translation is "without gods." I freakin' love it! I wouldn't want to get "Atheist" tattooed on me because of where I live. But this way I get the original version of the word (very cool) and if my Christian boss asks me what it means, I'll just tell her it's Greek for "God is love" lmao.

Oh, and it's pronounced like "atheos," similar to atheist with long vowels and no "t." Just in case you're interested. And here are the definitions:

1. without gods
2. denying or disdaining the gods (especially officially sanctioned gods)
3. generally: godless, immoral
4. abandoned by the gods
5. (lexicography) not derived from a theonym
